Day Trip Ideas to Explore the Area

We are just a short 10 minute drive to Ski Martock which offers fabulous skiing in the winter, and over 60 Zipline courses covering more than 120 acres in the summer.  In beautiful Grand Pré, you will find the Grand Pré National Historic Site where you will get to know that Acadians, Nova Scotia’s early French Settlers. Within an hour or so, you can be in the capital city of Halifax exploring the downtown waterfront, shops, restaurants, entertainment, museums, and so much more. Or be in the iconic village of Peggy’s Cove viewing the famous lighthouse.

You can spend the day exploring the area and still make it back home to The Clockmaker’s Inn to enjoy a relaxing evening on the deck overlooking the lush gardens perhaps while sipping a glass of local wine.

Cape Split Provincial Park - 1 hour from the Inn

Experience the natural wonder of the Bay of Fundy from the dramatic cliffs of Cape Split. Hike through mixed forests to look off with stunning views of the tide-swept coastline. At the peninsula tip, the trail opens into a meadow revealing iconic sea stacks and basalt pinnacles carved by the power of the world’s highest tides. Cape Split Provincial Park is the most ecologically intact portion of the North Mountain, a ridge of basalt that defines the northern border of the Annapolis Valley.

Grand Pré, NS - 20 minutes from the Inn

Grand Pré National Historic Site, you will get to know the Acadians, Nova Scotia's early French settlers. Theirs is a story of pioneer life, tragedy, and triumphant survival. Domaine de Grand Pré is a local winery where they take great pride in making the finest Nova Scotia wines. They also offer Grapely Ghost Walks. Tangled Gardens located in the heart of the Annapolis Valley, has beautiful gardens to explore, tea room and shop with unique jellies, jams, honey and more.


Halifax, NS - 1 hour from the Inn

There is so much to see and do in downtown Halifax, the capital city of our province. Take a stroll along the waterfront, sail around the harbour on one of the many cruises/boat tours offered, visit many museums such as Pier 21, Natural History Museum, and the iconic Halifax Citadel National Historic Site which proudly looks over the city's harbour. Take a walk on one of the busiest streets; Spring Garden Road. Drop by the state of the art Halifax Public Library and the Public Gardens which is home to lush gardens. Dine at one of our many fabulous restaurants, bars and pubs.


Ontree Fun & Adventure Park - 10 minutes from the Inn

We have 18 high rope courses, two kids courses and one wheelchair accessible course. The courses are situated in heights between 3 to 60 feet from the ground. Peggy's Cove, NS - 1 hour from the Inn

Nova Scotia is home to over 160 historic lighthouses, but no beacon is as photographed as the one in the vibrant fishing village of Peggy’s Cove. Built in 1915, Peggy’s Point Lighthouse still keeps watch over surging ocean waves and working lobster boats. Amble over giant rocks worn smooth by the sea and share in the view. Enjoy delicious dishes at the Sou'Wester Gift & Restaurant, visit Amos Pewter, deGarthe Gallery, rent a kayak from East Coast Outfitters or take a boat tour of Peggy's Cove. Ski Martock - 10 minutes from the Inn

Ski Martock is 600 feet high with seven trails including a terrain park, riglet park, beginner bowl, quad chairlift, T-bar lift, and a Magic Carpet. All downhill trails including the terrain park are lit for night skiing and snowboarding enjoyment.


Wolfville, NS - 30 minutes from the Inn

Wolfville is at the epicentre of Nova Scotia's burgeoning wine scene, with eight wineries located within 10 km of the town's centre. You can hop on, hop off wine tour on the Wolfville Magic Winery Bus which is a traditional British double-decker bus! Home to "Devour! The Food Film Fest", the world's largest food film fest, Wolfville boasts several charming and quaint restaurants and cafés, each dedicated to creating fresh, seasonal dishes from local produce and seafood. Wolfville Farmers' Market offers 60 unique vendors. Visit the Annapolis Cider Company for a tour and taste.
